<Pollack, the national fish of Koreans>

Almost 100% of South Korea's pollack production is caught by deep sea fishing vessels.
It is a cold-water fish and is commonly caught in Russia and the United States. Our deep sea fishing vessels fish in the northwestern Bering Sea fishing grounds after paying fishing quota fee through negotiation with Russia. Some are also imported through joint ventures with Russia.
Pollack is so familiar that we call it our national fish.
People of all ages enjoy eating it because of its mild, light, and refreshing flavor. Pollack can be eaten in all its parts. It is a precious fish that needed the most of Koreans’ traditionally important ceremonies, such as wedding, funeral, and ancestral rites, etc.
Due to the low catches of cods in Europe and other regions in recent year, Pollack become a popular alternative to cods. Pollack fillets are used in a variety of products, such as surimi.

<Benefits of Pollack>

A. Muscle building
The protein content of pollack is more efficient than eggs, soybeans or milk. Due to the myosin in pollack protein, it is effective in strengthening muscles without exercise.
* 15 out of 19 women over the age of 65 gained muscle in a 3-month experiment.
* In a 6-month experiment of pollack protein and whey protein (the protein found in milk) in women 65 years and older, the pollack protein group had greater increases in skeletal muscle mass in legs and arms, and knee extensor strength.
* 8-week experiment in teenage high school soccer players showed significant muscle gains
B. Diet
Pollack has very little fat and 74 calories and 17.5 grams of protein per 100 grams, which compares favorably to the classic diet food, chicken breast (109 calories and 23 grams of protein per 100 grams), and has some outstanding benefits.
* Increased basal metabolism by 80 kcal after 10 weeks in a 3-month trial in adult women aged 21-22. This 80 calorie increase is comparable to the calories burned in a 20 minute brisk walking workout.
C. Detoxifying effects
Contains taurine, which is excellent for reducing the burden on the liver as well as recovering from fatigue.
* In addition to taurine, pollack contains high levels of lysine and methionine, essential amino acids that help protect and strengthen the liver, making it a natural liver detoxifier.
D. Skin care: Pollack skin contains rich collagen, which is beneficial for skin beauty.
